What Is the Yuva Sathi Scheme?

It all started in February 2026. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a new scheme under Budget 2026-27 called the Banglar Yuva Sathi Prakalpa (বাংলার যুব সাথী প্রকল্প).

The whole idea behind this scheme was simple to support educated young people in West Bengal who were struggling to find jobs. The government said: until you find work, we will deposit ₹1,500 every month directly into your bank account. The money comes through DBT Direct Benefit Transfer so there is no middleman, no delay, no paperwork to chase after.

This support was to continue for a maximum of 5 years, or until the person landed a job whichever came first. Over five years, that adds up to ₹90,000.

Between February 15 and February 26, 2026, camps were set up across all 294 Assembly constituencies in the state. Around 1 crore people submitted their forms. The first instalment was released on March 7, 2026.

How to Do Yuva Sathi Status Check

You do not need to visit any government office for this. Just pick up your phone and check your Yuva Sathi status from home using one of the two methods below.

Method 1: Check at yubasathi.wb.gov.in

This is the most straightforward way.

Open a browser on your phone or computer and go to yubasathi.wb.gov.in. Once the site loads, you will see four options on the homepage. Out of those, click on "Application Status" ignore the other three for now.

On the next page, a "Check Status" link will appear. Click on it. A box will come up asking for your registered mobile number or your Enrollment Number (the one that starts with YS/).

After entering that, fill in the CAPTCHA those letters or numbers shown in a small image. Then hit Submit.

That is it. Your status will appear on the screen right away.

Method 2: Check at apas.wb.gov.in Using OTP

This one works slightly differently but gets the job done just as well.

Open apas.wb.gov.in in your browser. Click the "Check Status" button. Enter the mobile number you used when filling the form.

The moment you click "Get OTP," a one-time password will land on your phone. Enter that OTP, then click "Verify PIN." As soon as verification goes through, your current application status shows up on the screen.

One important thing to know people who filled the offline form at a February camp had their data uploaded manually by block officials in phases. So if the status did not show up right away in the beginning, that was completely normal. By June 2026, the data for most applicants has already been uploaded.

How to Check Yuva Sathi Payment Status. Has the Money Come?

If your status shows Approved and you want to check whether the money actually reached your account, here is what you do.

Go back to yubasathi.wb.gov.in. This time look for the "Payment Status" section. Enter your Application ID or Aadhaar number, fill the CAPTCHA, and click Submit.

Your payment date and transaction details will show up right there on the screen.

One more thing worth knowing the payment goes directly into whichever bank account is linked to your Aadhaar. The moment money is credited, your bank sends you an SMS. So you do not really need to keep refreshing the portal just to check for payment your phone will tell you.

What Do the Different Status Types Mean?

A lot of people check their status and then get confused does "Pending" mean rejected? Not at all. Here is a clear breakdown.

The Biggest Update: Yuva Shakti Bharosa Card Scheme 2026

Read this section carefully because the situation has changed significantly.

In the 2026 Assembly Elections, BJP won and the Trinamool Congress government which had been in power for 15 years was replaced. The new BJP government announced that it would replace the Banglar Yuva Sathi Scheme with a new one called the Yuva Shakti Bharosa Card Scheme.

Under this new scheme, eligible youth will receive ₹3,000 every month double what Yuva Sathi offered. There is also no 5-year cap this time; support continues until the person finds a job. On top of that, there is a proposed one-time assistance of ₹15,000 for competitive exam preparation.

this is a big but as of June 2026, no official portal has been opened for this scheme. Registration has not started. If any website is claiming you can "apply now," that is not official. Wait for the government notification before doing anything.
