LIC Premium Receipt Download 2026 – 4 Easy Ways (With & Without Login)

Tax season is when most LIC policyholders realize they need something they have not saved their premium payment receipt.

Whether your accountant asked for it, your employer's HR wants investment proof under Section 80C, or you simply need to confirm a payment you made three months ago, getting your LIC premium receipt does not require a branch visit or a long wait. LIC gives you four different ways to access it two online methods with and without login, one through WhatsApp, and an offline option at any branch.

This guide covers all four clearly, so you can pick what works for you and download your receipt in minutes.

Why Your LIC Premium Receipt Matters

Every time you pay your LIC premium whether annually, half-yearly, quarterly, or monthly a receipt is generated confirming that payment. That receipt is more than just a record.

For income tax filing: LIC premium payments qualify for deduction under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act, up to ₹1.5 lakh per year. Your premium receipt is the proof your employer or the IT department may ask for when verifying your tax-saving investments.

For loan applications: Banks sometimes ask for premium receipts when processing personal loans or home loans, to assess your financial commitments.

For policy servicing: If there is ever a dispute about whether a payment went through, your receipt is the evidence.

For your own records: Paper receipts get lost. A downloaded PDF stored on your phone or laptop does not.

LIC's e-receipt is digitally valid confirmed by LIC's official FAQ and is accepted by income tax authorities for IT purposes.

Method 1: Download LIC Premium Receipt Without Login (Pay Direct / View Receipt)

This is the quickest option. No account registration, no password, no login. You just need your policy number and transaction details.

Step 1: Go to licindia.in LIC's official website.

Step 2: Click on "Pay Premium" in the top navigation or on the home page banner.

Step 3: You will see the Pay Direct options. Look for "View/Download Receipt" or "View Transaction Status" click that.

Step 4: Enter the following details:

  • Your Policy Number
  • Transaction Date (the date you made the payment)
  • Transaction Type select Renewal Premium, Advance Premium, or Loan as applicable

Step 5: Click "Submit". A list of matching transactions will appear.

Step 6: Find the payment you are looking for and click on the Receipt Number. Your LIC premium receipt will download as a PDF file.

Important: The premium amount you enter during any Pay Direct transaction should be the basic premium without service tax or GST. This is the instalment premium shown on your policy document, not the total amount debited from your account.

Method 2: Download LIC Premium Receipt via e-Services Portal (With Login)

If you have multiple LIC policies or need a consolidated premium paid statement for an entire financial year, logging into the LIC Customer Portal is the better option. It lets you download year-wise statements and receipts for all your enrolled policies in one place.

Step 1: Go to licindia.in and click on "Customer Portal" under Online Services or go directly to the LIC Customer Portal login page.

Step 2: Log in using your User ID, Password, and Captcha.

If you are a first-time user, click "New User" or "Sign Up" and register by entering your Policy Number, Instalment Premium (without tax), Date of Birth, registered Mobile Number, and Email ID. Verify through the OTP sent to your mobile.

Step 3: Once logged in, go to "Basic Services" from the menu.

Step 4: Click on "Policy Premium Paid Statement".

Step 5: Choose the Financial Year and the Policy Number for which you want the receipt.

Step 6: Click "Generate" or "Download" to get the receipt as a PDF.

This method gives you two statement types:

  • Individual Policy Premium Paid Statement for a specific policy
  • Consolidated Premium Paid Statement for all enrolled policies in one document, useful for Section 80C filing

After payment through the portal: Your receipt is also saved under My App → Basic Services → Online Payment Receipts in your customer portal. You can go back and download it any time without going through the payment flow again.

Method 3: Get LIC Premium Receipt via WhatsApp

LIC launched a WhatsApp-based service that lets registered policyholders access their policy details and premium receipts directly in chat no app download, no portal login needed.

LIC's official WhatsApp number: +91 8976862090

Step 1: Save this number in your phone contacts.

Step 2: Send "Hi" to this number on WhatsApp.

Step 3: The LIC chatbot will respond with a menu of options. Select the one related to premium receipts or policy services.

Step 4: Follow the prompts. You can view your policy details and access a secure payment or receipt link through the chat.

Note: This WhatsApp service works only if your mobile number is registered and linked with your LIC policy. If your number is not updated, this method will not work you will need to visit a branch to update it first.

Method 4: Get LIC Premium Receipt from a Branch (Offline)

Not comfortable with online methods? You can walk into any LIC branch and request your premium receipt directly.

Step 1: Visit the LIC branch where your policy is registered or any nearby LIC branch.

Step 2: Tell the staff you need a premium paid certificate or a copy of your premium receipt.

Step 3: Provide your Policy Number and a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID).

Step 4: The staff will verify your details and either print the receipt immediately or ask you to collect it within a working day or two.

This takes longer than the online methods but works well for older policyholders or those with policies that were originally issued offline many years ago.

Paid Through a Third-Party App? Here Is How to Find the Receipt

Many policyholders pay LIC premiums through Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, or Amazon Pay. If you paid this way, your receipt is available directly in the app not on the LIC portal.

Can You Download a LIC Receipt for Premiums Paid Offline?

Yes, but you need to be registered on the LIC Customer Portal first.

If you paid your premium at a LIC branch counter or through an agent (cash or cheque), that payment is recorded in LIC's system. Once you register on the portal and enrol your policy, you can access premium paid statements including offline payments through the Policy Premium Paid Statement option under Basic Services.

If you are not registered, you can still request the premium paid certificate at your branch with your policy number and ID.

What to Do If Your Receipt Did Not Come After Payment

Payment went through but no receipt arrived? Here is what to check:

Check your email first. LIC sends the premium receipt to the email address provided during payment. If you entered it wrong or used a different email than usual, the receipt went there instead. Check all your email accounts.

Wait up to 3 working days. In some cases where the bank confirms the transaction after a short delay, LIC sends the receipt within 3 working days after receiving bank confirmation.

Use the View Transaction Status option on Pay Direct. Go to licindia.in → Pay Premium → View/Download Receipt. Enter your policy number and transaction date to retrieve the receipt directly.

For portal users: Check under My App → Basic Services → Online Payment Receipts. Your receipt is saved here after every successful transaction.

Still not found? Email LIC at bo_eps1@licindia.com with your policy number, transaction date, and amount. Mention that you did not receive the receipt.

Amount debited but premium not updated? If the amount left your bank account but the premium was not credited to your LIC policy within 10 working days, contact your bank first. In some cases the amount sits in a suspense account at the bank's end and needs to be reversed or reprocessed.

Key Things to Remember Before Downloading

A few details that trip people up:

Premium amount without tax: When entering the premium amount in any portal or Pay Direct form, always enter the basic instalment premium as mentioned in your policy document not the total amount you paid including GST. The total you pay at the counter or online includes 4.5% or 18% GST depending on the policy year, and that should not be entered in the portal field.

Date of birth format: Enter your date of birth as DD/MM/YYYY when the portal asks for it.

Keep email and mobile updated: LIC sends premium receipts to your registered email and SMS to your mobile. If either is outdated, you will miss the automatic delivery. Log into the Customer Portal and update your contact details under My Profile if needed.

For NACH mode policyholders: If your premium is collected automatically through NACH (bank auto-debit), LIC does not print and dispatch physical receipts for monthly NACH policies. Instead, a premium paid certificate is issued twice a year by the servicing branch. You can also log into the Customer Portal to download it.
