Want to check your Bank of India balance right now? You don't need to step out or wait in a queue. BOI gives you at least seven ways to do it — missed call, SMS, WhatsApp, app, net banking, ATM, and passbook. Here's exactly how each one works.
Before anything else — if you just want to call and ask, BOI has a customer care toll-free number that handles balance enquiries:
1800-103-1906 / 1800-220-229
Call from your registered mobile number. The automated system will read out your account balance.
This is the one most people use daily. Give a missed call to either of these numbers from your registered mobile:
That's it. The call disconnects automatically and you get an SMS with your balance within seconds. No waiting, no talking, no charges. It's free.
The only catch — your mobile number must be registered with the bank. If it isn't, none of the mobile-based methods will work.
If you've registered for BOI net banking, log in at the Bank of India website using your net banking ID and password. The same credentials work for mobile banking too — BOI doesn't give you separate logins for both.
Once inside, you can check your Bank of India account balance online, download account statements, and do fund transfers — all from the dashboard.
BOI's electronic passbook lets you generate an account statement and download it as a PDF right on your phone. You can also have it sent to your registered email. You'll need to be enrolled in net banking or mobile banking to use this.
Any UPI app — PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm — can show you your Bank of India account balance. Here's how:
Quick, simple, and you don't even need the BOI app for this.
BOI offers three main apps for mobile banking:
Log in using your mobile banking credentials (same as net banking). Everything you'd do at a branch, you can do here — minus the wait.
BOI's SMS banking works through the StarConnect Mobile Banking service. Before you can use it, you'll need to set up a 4-digit SMS password:
Once that's done, send your SMS to +91-9810558585:
What You Want
SMS Format
Balance (primary account)
BAL XXXX
Balance (other account)
BAL XXXX [Account Number]
Mini statement (primary)
TRANS XXXX
Mini statement (other)
TRANS XXXX [Account Number]
XXXX = your 4-digit SMS password
Note: BOI has mentioned this service is temporarily unavailable. Check the BOI website for current status.
BOI's WhatsApp banking number is +91-8376006006.
Send "Hi" from your registered mobile number to get started. You'll receive an OTP for verification. Once you enter it, you're registered — and you can then check your BOI account balance, get statements, locate branches, make credit card payments, and block debit or credit cards, all through WhatsApp chat.
It's surprisingly capable for a chat-based service.
Visit any Bank of India ATM (or a non-BOI ATM if needed):
For a mini statement showing your last 10 transactions, select the "Mini Statement" option instead and collect the printed receipt.
A word of caution — RBI limits the number of free ATM transactions per month. At non-BOI ATMs, charges can be higher once you cross the free limit. Use ATM balance checks sparingly if you're watching your transaction count.
If you keep your Bank of India passbook updated, it shows your complete account history — every debit and credit right from the day you opened the account. You'll need to visit your branch for each update. Most customers have moved on to digital methods, but the passbook is still useful as a paper backup or for detailed historical records.
“I regularly use the BOI Mobile App for balance checks and fund transfers. It’s one of the easiest and fastest ways to manage my account while traveling or working.”
The BOI mobile banking app is ideal for users who want instant balance enquiry, money transfer, mini statements, and complete banking access directly from their smartphone.
